100 YEARS OF NRCRI

As we mark our centenary, we are celebrating our role in researching and developing key crops such as cassava, yam, cocoyam, turmeric, livingstone potato, and amora, which have been vital to Nigeria’s food security. To mark this special occasion, we have released a book highlighting our significant achievements in the study of Root and Tuber Crops (RTCs), which have been crucial to both food security and socio-economic progress over the past 100 years. These accomplishments are the result of the hard work of our dedicated scientists and their collaborators, both within and outside Nigeria, who have worked tirelessly with our researchers. The book also showcases a range of strategic research programmes that support the development of these crops, including biotechnology, seed technology, product development, yam, cocoyam, potato, sweetpotato, ginger, minor root crops, and farming systems and extension.
