KURU Outstation

The Kuru Outstation of the National Root Crops Research Institute (NRCRI), located near Jos in Plateau State, Nigeria, plays a pivotal role in the research and development of root and tuber crops in the region.

As part of the broader National Root Crops Research Institute based in Umuahia, Abia State, the Kuru Outstation focuses on improving the productivity and sustainability of vital crops such as cassava, yams, sweet potatoes, and ginger.

By harnessing innovative agricultural techniques, conducting variety trials, and promoting disease resistance and nutritional value in root crops, the Kuru Outstation contributes significantly to food security, income generation, and the overall economic development of Nigeria. Through its research and extension services, the outstation works closely with farmers, stakeholders, and other research institutions to disseminate knowledge, improve crop yields, and address the challenges facing root crop production in the region.
